While many League of Legends fans are satisfied with the Skarner rework, some players slam Riot Games for the lackluster Guardian of the Sands Skarner skin.

Among the most-awaited Champion reworks in League of Legends is the years-long overhaul of Skarner. While many fans and players hear of Champion reworks, patches, or nerfs, Skarner is one to have rumors in the book that date back years.

With the Skarner rework finally rolling out in the upcoming patch 14.7, many LoL players are eager to get their hands on the exciting “new Champion.” However, some dedicated Skarner fans have already noticed a detail Riot Games seems to have overlooked.

The Guardian of the Sands is one of the Shuriman scorpion’s most iconic skins. But keen fans have noticed that this particular Skarner skin has been “nerfed,” as it is now void of the unique recall that made it well-loved by the community.

In League of Legends cosmetics, particularly on Champion skins, the recall effect is one of the most visually appealing reasons to swipe your card. In addition to the ability changes and new outfit design, the recall effect is often added even to non-legendary skins.

In the Reddit post, the player detailed the many LoL skins that belong in the “weird limbo” pricing of 975 Riot Points. Most of these skins retained their unique features and recall effects even after a rework, which the Guardian of the Sands Skarner failed to feature.

Moreover, most Skarner skins have removed a feature or two after the rework. Most notably, some fans are disheartened by the seemingly “downgraded” version of the Earthrune Skarner after the rework.

Meanwhile, some Skarner skins have ramped up their eye-catching traits. The Battlecast Skarner has already captured the hearts of many LoL players days before the rework release, with some even noting that the skin went from looking like a toy to an actual frightening machine.

Many League of Legends players want to experience the new and improved Skarner. The LoL Patch 14.7 will be live for all clients on April 3, 2024.
