AFK Journey’s first season has set a requirement that many players are calling “impossible.”

AFK Journey’s first season has set an “impossible” requirement, stirring discontent among players. As someone who started playing AFK Journey shortly after its launch, I’ve eagerly anticipated new content since I enjoyed the game.

Yet, my enthusiasm for the upcoming “Song of Strife” season was quickly overshadowed by an “impossible” requirement that has left many players, including myself, disheartened.

Announced for May 2024, this season introduces a high entry barrier that seems nearly “impossible” without significant spending. Despite continuous play since the game’s release, I am far from the required level of 240, like many others.

With the current drop rate of the Hero Essence, where I can only ascend one hero at most per day, I can’t possibly level up my heroes to level 240 in just a couple of weeks, especially since I am a F2P player and many players agree that it feels “impossible” to reach this requirement in weeks, especially for F2P players.

It is relatively easy to level up characters since the game gives out much of everything except the Hero Essence, a much-needed resource to level up. I’m currently at resonance level 120, and that’s half of what we need. It may seem possible, but of course, the resources needed to level up get higher as you level up.

Other F2P players agree that the current “impossible” requirement is too high for us. While it is already known that F2P players will progress slower than whales, the developers could have made the requirements more realistic for a majority of the player base.

From what I gather, I’m not alone in my frustration. For instance, a player posted, “Season One gated behind resonance level 240? Is that even possible for f2p in 20 days?” It highlights a broad concern among free-to-play gamers who find this barrier daunting and unfair.

Additionally, even players who invest financially find the goal challenging. “I’m currently only going up ten resonance levels in 5 days or so, even after spending a bit of money,” shared another player, underscoring the slow progression and high financial demand.

I hope the developers are taking note of these reactions. Adjusting the entry requirements to be more inclusive would enhance the game’s community spirit and maintain its vibrancy and engagement. We all want to explore the “Song of Strife,” but it should be an adventure that all players can embark on together.

The community consensus is clear: the level 240 gate is a significant impediment, affecting how accessible new content is for everyone, not just the heavy spenders.
