Blizzard has been hit with a DDoS attack that’s causing connectivity issues for Overwatch 2 players.

Overwatch 2 is a team-based first-person shooter (FPS) built upon the original Overwatch’s foundation, refining its formula. The game was developed and published by Blizzard Entertainment and released on October 4, 2022. This introduced significant updates and new features.

As an online game, Overwatch 2 can’t avoid experiencing server issues from time to time. Nothing can beat the lag if it’s directly from Blizzard’s servers, leading to many players becoming frustrated.

Blizzard announced on X that they experienced a distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attack, which could possibly result in high ping and disconnections for players. They stated that they are actively working on the issue to fix it as soon as possible.

An X user expressed their frustration with the latest update. They wanted the developers to work on balancing the game and revive features that made Overwatch great before. They shared that many people are mad at Blizzard, which would result in the game dying.

Another user tweeted that they thought that a multi-billion dollar company such as Blizzard would have some protection from simple DDoS attacks.

Many players have been receiving penalties and bans due to the constant disconnection and lag they experience, and they haven’t been happy about it. Some Overwatch 2 tournaments have also been postponed due to server issues.

Two hours after the first post regarding the DDoS attack, Blizzard only replied to a question from a player and did not make an official announcement. They shared that the issues should be resolved by now and redirected players to their connection troubleshooting site if they’re still experiencing issues.

Since the server issues should be fixed, players may try again to enjoy the game. Make sure to stay updated on any Overwatch 2 news!
