The tower defense game Bloons TD 6 has many challenging game modes. There are your Boss Bloon challenges, the daunting CHIMPS mode, and the more enjoyable Race Events for the true adrenaline fanatic. 

Race Events prioritize speed over anything else. In this mode, players have the freedom to send the subsequent “levels” and hordes of Bloons as long as they deem that their defensive towers can handle the fight. 

With that covered, here are some of the best crowd-busting defense towers in BTD6 for Race Events!

Blade Shooter (2-3-x Tack Shooter)

When it comes to area-of-effect and crowd-controlling towers, the Tack Shooter is your best bet. Due to its affordability, it is one of the best early-game towers for Race Mode. 

Like our guide to Bloonarius, the Blade Shooter (and Blade Maelstrom) upgrade punishes all Bloons in its vicinity. Combined with the top path upgrade, this Tack Shooter tower becomes deadly for early-level Bloons, even those with multiple or regrowing layers. 

Glaive Ricochet (3-x-2 Boomerang Monkey)

The Boomerang Monkey’s first path is another top-tier monkey regarding crowd control. Much like its name, the Glaive Ricochet bounces from one Bloon to another, making it a multi-targeting nightmare. 

While the Faster Rangs (middle path) cross-path is also a good upgrade, the Red Hot Rangs is necessary to eliminate Lead Bloons by Round 28. 

Cannon Ship (x-3-2 Monkey Buccaneer)

If the Race Event occurs on a map with water spaces, the Monkey Buccaneer is your best early-game friend. This tower is more powerful than the others because of its cheap upgrades, which can eliminate Lead and Camo Bloons. 

The Cannon Ship is also one of the cheaper upgrades that can easily handle MOAB-class Bloons. 

Recursive Cluster (x-2-4 Bomb Shooter)

My personal favorite when it comes to crowd control or eliminating huge hordes of even the strongest Bloons is the Recursive Cluster. This tough Bomb Shooter can easily handle the threatening rounds with multiple Lead Bloons and Ceramic Bloons, namely rounds 63, 73, 75, and 78.

Moreover, unlike most crowd-control towers with limited range, the Recursive Cluster can be put in non-rotating or non-chokepoint spots due to its wider range. 

Plasma Accelerator (4-2-x Dartling Gunner) 

Unlike other AOE towers, the Plasma Accelerator eliminates Bloons in a line – making it a good choice for maps with a single source or long lines (like Cubism or Another Brick). As Race Events vary in tower availability, this could be a good go-to choice for levels and challenges where the basic towers (Boomerang Monkey and Tack Shooter) are unavailable. 

Dragons Breath (x-3-2 Wizard Monkey)

Another relatively early to mid-game option (that could eventually grow into a late-game nightmare with its max upgrade) is the Wizard Monkey’s Dragons Breath. Just like the Monkey Buccaneer, this upgrade path (along with the bottom path) can eliminate both Lead and Camo Bloons. 

Operation: Dart Storm (4–x-2 Monkey Ace)

If the Race Event is held on a map with many obstructions and obstacles, the Dart Storm is your best choice. Aside from its ability to eliminate MOAB-class Bloons, it easily handles all the Bloons the higher-level enemies spawn. 

For late-game runs or Race Events that reach Round 60 and above, I recommend getting the Sky Shredder, which can easily handle all Bloon classes on your screen. 

Spirit of the Forest (2-5-x Druid) 

While the Spirit of the Forest is not a “solo-carry” defensive tower, it eliminates the worry of having any Bloon leak past your defenses. This tower is especially powerful when it comes to maps with multiple lanes and spawn points, as the vines cover all tracks and possible pathways for Bloons to come across.
