Sword of the Necromancer Kickstarter launches 1

The Sword of the Necromancer Kickstarter has launched today. The dungeon-crawler action RPG with Rogue-like elements is being developed by Grimorio of Games and produced and published by JanduSoft S.L. Both companies are based out of Spain and plan to release the game both digitally and physically to the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch. The Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign will run through May 8, 2020.

Sword of the Necromancer asks the player what they would do to bring back someone they love. In the game, Tama is a one-time former rogue charged with accompanying the priestess Koko on her pilgrimage through the continent. The priestess dies during their quest, and Tama, filled with despair, decides to carry her corpse to the Necromancer’s crypt, where she may be able to call upon a power that could resurrect the dead.

Tama will take on the dungeon, including the dangers that lurk in its shadows, to gain the forbidden power of necromancy. The player must equip weapons and relics, assemble an army of monsters, and level up to confront the guardians that stand in her way.

The game allows Tama to revive defeated enemies and force them to fight alongside her using the forbidden powers of the Sword of the Necromancer. The player can also equip objects and relics that boost Tama’s attributes and stats. Monsters, relics, weapons, and objects will take one of the four slots available when equipped, and players assign them to a button. When the player presses the assigned button, they will use the item. This set up allows for combos. Relics will act passively.

The weapons available to Tama include swords, spears, axes, bows, and magic. Different weapons have distinct attributes, such as reach, combos, and area effects. Some weapons will have an area of effect and cause more damage. During gameplay, Tama will acquire an item called Flask of the Homunculus. If there is a second controller connected, and the Flask of the Homunculus is equipped, Tama can create a copy of herself. A second player can control this copy and can do everything Tama can except revive or summon monsters.

The Sword of the Necromancer Kickstarter has launched and will run through May 8, 2020.
