Team17 and Veewo Games announced that Neon Abyss would be released to the Playstation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch this year. A Steam edition of the game was previously announced. Neon Abyss is a roguelike action-platformer that allows players to run ‘n’ gun their way into the Abyss.
In Neon Abyss, players are part of the Grim Squad and have been tasked by Hades with dispatching the New Gods. Players will run ‘n’ gun their way through procedurally generated dungeons with colorful graphics and rogue-lite mechanics.
Neon Abyss’ Key Feature Include:
- Rogue-lite: When players die, some of their progress is preserved from their previous runs. With each incarnation, they’ll return even more powerful than before and last even longer.
- Pets: While on their journey, players will be able to hatch and evolve pets along to give them additional perks and firepower
- Unlimited item synergies: Passive effects will stack. Random item drops in the levels will provide players with the chance to stack for greater destructive force. According to the developer, every run will be unique. There are almost limitless effect combinations.
- Mini-games: Those who choose to take a break between slaying gods will find mini-games such as dance competitions, meditation challenges, piano performances, and more. The mini-games will give players the chance to kick back, relax, and earn extra loot.
Team17 and Veewo Games have made a free demo of Neon Abyss available for download via Steam. The game is limited to a certain amount of playtime, depending on the difficulty level selected by players. “Easy” will allow 15 minutes of play. “Medium” will open up 18 minutes of total gameplay. “Hard” will allow users to test their mettle with 24 minutes of play.
