Encased will be releasing Patch 2 on April 15, 2020. Dark Crystal Games studio has been working on the game for the last two years, which included a successful Kickstarter campaign and a release to Steam Early Access. The studio is scheduled to launch the final version of the game at the end of 2020.
The isometric RPG takes place in the desert of a post-apocalyptic setting, in a land separated from the rest of the world by a giant dome whose origin is unknown. Within this enclosure are the remains of an ancient, but technologically advanced civilization, underground complexes, traps, artifacts, and other anomalies. The open-world game allows for free exploration while traveling between different locations. Each area contains mysteries and random enemy encounters.
Patch 2 for Encased will add a day and night cycle, new quests, additional locations, characters, and a new companion. Dark Crystal Games redesigned in-game locations, added new characters, items, riddles, and puzzles. The combat system has been updated to rework the balance, to include new weapons, add combat effects and perks. Mines, grenades, and a cryolaser have been added as weapons.
The differences in each playthrough will increase because of added dialog choices, new encounters, and the expanded skill system. Players can expect new random battles, combat skirmishes against heavily armed raiders, and treasure hunts. New monsters include super-sized mutants and cyber-hyenas.
The second patch will also add a day and night cycle. Time of day will also affect the lighting of the environment, character behaviors, and quests available. The developers added a new companion, the Fox, a female raider with a split personality. Players will have to face the character in the arena. If they win, the Fox will join their party.
Encased Patch 2 will be available on April 15, 2020. The final version of the game will launch at the end of 2020. For more information on the second Encased update, visit the official website.
