Genshin Impact 4.4 update sparks major boycott with YouTubers leading the charge
Genshin Impact 4.4 update has sparked controversy, leading to calls for a boycott by top content creators.
Controversy has struck the world of Genshin Impact with its latest 4.4 update. The backlash is rooted in the dissatisfaction of players, especially in China, with the rewards offered during the official livestream for version 4.4, which failed to meet expectations.
This has led to a significant drop in followers on the game’s official Douyin and Bilibili accounts and a wave of 1-star ratings.
Amid this turmoil, many popular Genshin Impact content creators have voiced their strong disapproval. Tectone, a well-known Genshin Impact content creator with over 783k subscribers on YouTube, expressed his frustration by revealing that he won’t be playing Genshin Impact 4.4.
“Games are meant to be for fun… if you’re playing the game and feeling disrespected… stop playing the game, rate it one star on the App Store, and don’t pull on Xinyan,” Tectone advised, highlighting the community’s disappointment and the perceived neglect from HoYoverse, the game’s developer.
Biimow, another popular Genshin Impact creator on YouTube, recently announced a boycott of the update, urging fans to follow suit: “the team deserve better… it’s not okay to be silent and just sit in the own small bubbles,” Biimow passionately stated.
The response from fans has been overwhelmingly supportive, with many rallying behind the boycott.
Comments like “Remember to vote it with your wallet” and “Finally, content creators are starting to wake up to how mistreated the team’ve been” exemplify the community’s sentiment.
