Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth State of Play trailer leak reveals demo release date
A recent Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth leak has seemingly all but confirmed the existence of the game’s demo.
According to a post from Twitter user @Wario64, the PlayStation Network (PSN) has allegedly confirmed that a Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth demo is coming tomorrow immediately after the game’s exclusive Sony State of Play showcase.
Wario64 managed to get such info after seeing what seems to be a Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth trailer being up on the PSN – something that was meant to be released on February 6, after the game’s State of Play showcase. Unfortunately, Sony Interactive Entertainment or Square Enix may have noticed the slip-up; the trailer is seemingly no longer up in the PSN as of press time.
Although the demo’s content is still unknown, Wario64’s tweet stated that it would allow players to play as either Cloud Strife or Sephiroth during the Nibelheim episode. Final Fantasy 7 fans may recall that Nibelheim was the village Cloud and Tifa Lockhart grew up, and the same village Sephiroth razed when he set out to acquire Jenova’s remains.
PSN confirms that a Final Fantasy VII Rebirth demo is coming tomorrow (says it’s “out now” but I think the trailer was meant for tomorrow)

Interestingly, people on the r/GamingLeaksAndRumours subreddit revealed that the demo would allow players to save their progress in the demo, similar to what happened in Final Fantasy 16’s demo. As such, players could get Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth’s first chapter in the demo; it could even allow those who played it to continue the game’s story from that point once Square Enix releases it.
While some believe that the demo Square Enix is releasing is the same one the developer is showcasing at different events, others believe that it could be more than just the game’s first chapter. The demo could allegedly feature the game’s first chapter plus a bonus demo.
Only time can tell if the upcoming Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth demo will feature the game’s first chapter. If so, players could expect to have a significantly sized demo if the game’s size is taken into consideration.
