Huni poses after a Clutch Gaming win at 2019 League of Legends World Championship

Clutch Gaming and Splyce will advance to the 2019 League of Legends World Championship Play-In Knockouts after clinching the top position of Group A and Group B, respectively, in the Play-In Groups stage.

Clutch (2-2) and Splyce (3-1) will be joined the two second-place teams, Unicorns of Love (2-2) and Isurus Gaming (2-2), after Mammoth (2-2) and DetonatioN FocusMe’s (1-3) run comes to an end.

Despite not progressing to the Play-In Knockouts, Mammoth and FocusMe performed admirably on the day. FocusMe scored a stunning underdog victory against Splyce, who went undefeated on Day 1. Mammoth also managed a slight underdog win against Unicorns of Love thanks to a huge nine-kill game by Calvin “k1ng” Truong on Xayah.

But the story of the day was how Clutch stepped up to survive the Group A tiebreaker.

Clutch dominated Mammoth in 24:36 before then later rolling past Unicorns of Love, as well. Heo “Huni” Seung-Hoon was in fine form on Day 3 with a brilliant game as Ryze against Mammoth. Huni followed that game up by expertly surviving multiple early gank attempts from Unicorns of Love before sneaking into the enemy base later in the game to destroy the nexus in a matter of seconds.
