Genshin Impact fans baffled as Chronicled Wish banner ends too soon

Genshin Impact’s latest event, the Chronicled Wish banner, ended earlier than expected, leaving the community scratching their heads.

Genshin Impact, the open-world action RPG by miHoYo, has been a significant player in the gaming industry since its launch in 2020. Known for its immersive world of Teyvat, engaging storyline, and various characters, the game has continuously expanded its content through updates and special events. Among these, the Chronicled Wish banner was a recent highlight.

The Chronicled Wish banner dropped during version 4.5, designed to give players a higher chance at obtaining specific characters and weapons, was expected to be a game-changer. It introduced a novel mechanism allowing players to select a path toward their desired 5-star character or weapon, providing a more focused approach to utilizing the game’s gacha system.

However, excitement turned to confusion as the banner abruptly ended halfway through the version update, leaving many players dismayed. The community has been vocal about its feelings, expressing both disappointment and speculation about the reasons behind this sudden end.

One player remarked on Reddit, “Why was the Chronicled Wish banner only for the first half of the version? With the number of characters now, it was great to have an opportunity to get the very early Mondstadt faces that don’t get the spotlight anymore.”

Another player pointed out, “To prevent players from seeing the 4.6 banners before they wished on Chronicle,” suggesting strategic timing on HoYoverse’s part, considering that version 4.6 will bring Arlecchino, one of the game’s most awaited characters.

Meanwhile, discussions have surfaced around the concept of FOMO (fear of missing out), with one commenter stating, “FOMO makes people feel like they need to spend money; it’s not that complicated.”

Chronicled Wish banner in Genshin Impact (Level Push)

Speculation is rife about the strategic timing of the Chronicled Wish banner, particularly in how it seems designed to encourage players to use their in-game currency on this banner, especially when the characters featured in concurrent banners might not be as popular or desirable.

Some view this tactic as a way to deplete resources before the release of highly anticipated and powerful characters in subsequent banners, thereby nudging players towards spending more, as another player speculated.

Another speculation is that the Chronicled Wish banner is a carefully crafted “trap” that was only added to drain the player’s currency so that the player is encouraged to spend in the following banners, considering the banner’s rules.

Despite the array of theories, the common thread among Genshin Impact players is a blend of frustration and hope for the banner’s return. As the community continues to speculate, the call for transparency and extended runs for future banners grows louder.
