SteamDolls Kickstarter launches

SteamDolls, a dark, fast-paced metroidvania game, launched its Kickstarter today. The game, which stars David Hayter as the voice of “The Whisper,” is set to release to the PlayStation 4, PC, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch in 2021.

In the upcoming steampunk-inspired metroidvania game, society has crumbled and fallen into disarray, and innovation has ceased. Set in an industrial era that is the metaphorical ghost of what came before, people have had their humanity consumed by the City. Their free will and determination stolen, and their souls crushed until only madness remained. In a misguided attempt to regain society’s former glory, scientists found something that should have been left alone, something that transformed the mindless citizens into cruel monsters.

Castlevania and Hollow Knight were among the games that inspired SteamDolls. According to the developers, SteamDolls is, “nourished by the fury of Dead Cells and the gloom of Bloodborne.” Players can blast their way through to their objectives or be stealthy and perform brutal kills on unsuspecting guards. The player controls The Whisper, as he struggles with the haunting apparitions of a witch trying to show him the truth about a conspiracy that could shake the world’s foundation.

Perks in the SteamDolls Kickstarter include a limited PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch physical release of the game, with “never-to-be-seen again” designs. There will also be a standard game and Collector’s Edition. Additional perks include SteamDolls Beta Access, an exclusive vinyl pressing of the OST, a plush doll, graphic novel, art book, input into the game’s world such as monster designs and NPCs, script lines for David Hayter and more.

Starting June 15, 2020, players can also download a free extended demo of SteamDolls on PC. The Castlevania and Hollow Knight inspired SteamDolls Kickstarter is now live. The game, which stars David Hayter as the voice of the lead character, is set to release to the PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch in 2021. For more information, visit the Kickstarter.
