Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous now in Closed Alpha Test 1

The first Alpha Test for Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous has launched. Owlcat Games announced that the classic isometric CRPG is now available to those who contributed to the Kickstarter campaign and backed a pledge level with the Alpha access. Others that are eager to play in the game’s Alpha Test may pre-order the game and purchase the add-on that includes access.

Owlcat Games has also launched a Slacker Backer campaign with the goals of adding a new Hunter class and Dinosaur companions and mounts to Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous. Those participating in the Alpha Test will be able to play through the first two chapters of the game until May 21, 2020. Players will be able to try out six classes, each with numerous archetypes, and two prestige classes along with the full roster from Pathfinder: Kingmaker. The Alpha build also includes ten new companions, and lets players take their first steps towards one of the Mythic Paths. Six are available now, with eight total available when the full game launches in 2021.

Oleg Shpilchevskiy, Owlcat Games’ Head of Studio, said, “These are rough times we are living in right now, but we are doing our best to keep up with our development schedule and deliver the game as promised. Now that the Alpha version is available to our backers, we are thrilled to receive feedback from our core fans.”

Features that were backed as stretch goals during the Kickstarter have been incorporated into the Alpha build. Increased reactivity for companions, meeting a new companion named Woljif Jefto, and mounted combat are all included, though they are not complete and will be improved upon with future updates. Some content will be missing or replaced in subsequent builds. Romances, the Locust Swarm, and Golden Dragon Mythic Paths are missing, as are the Crusade Commander features. They have not updated the Alpha’s UI. The developer has asked that all testers report glitches and bugs via a survey.

Backers can access a personal account to manage and upgrade their pledges, receive digital rewards, select specific add-ons, and edit personal information. Those who missed out on Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous’s Kickstarter can support continued development via a Slacker Backer. Funds collected through this will allow Owlcat Games to finance its last active stretch goal, which included the addition of a new Hunter class and ferocious dinosaur companions and mounts. Players will be able to ride them into battle and command them as pets.
