Wuthering Waves lag-free gameplay has Genshin Impact players wanting more

Wuthering Waves ping

During the second closed beta test for Wuthering Waves, fans noticed that ping doesn’t affect their gameplay, unlike in Genshin Impact.

Wuthering Waves is an upcoming open-world action role-playing game developed by Kuro Game, the same creator of Punishing: Gray Raven (PGR). The game offers a lot of freedom to the players, who assume the role of Rovers, to explore the new world and experience its storyline.

The game’s second closed beta test (CBT2) opened on February 19, 2024. Players who were able to participate in the beta test enjoyed smooth gameplay, as well as the new way of traversing through its world.

Wuthering Waves players have shared their thoughts and experiences on Reddit and X. A fan asked on Reddit whether a statement on a tweet regarding the game’s ping was true.

The tweet by GachaGamer stated that ping doesn’t affect Wuthering Waves’ gameplay when in single-player mode. They compared this to Genshin Impact, in which high ping can affect a player’s solo experience.

Another fan shared that ping doesn’t affect Kuro Games’ Punishing: Gray Raven (PGR). This made them believe that the game could be local-sided. They also shared that Genshin Impact is mostly unaffected by ping, but switching characters is a severe oversight on the developer’s part.

A Genshin Impact player stated that switching characters, mob spawning, hit registration, and elemental application or reaction are all affected by ping. Another player added that their damage output was delayed when they played Genshin Impact with a bad internet connection. This made fights longer as the enemies’ HP didn’t go down.

Meanwhile, another Reddit user shared that they have witnessed high latency messing up their friend’s gameplay. They were interrupted by a reconnecting message and “network anomaly.”

Another shared that the game’s character movement was responsive and featured no delay by the ping, but they noticed that enemies jittered and teleported due to lag.

Wuthering Waves is still testing many of its functions through these closed beta tests to ensure that everything goes as smoothly as possible during its release. There is yet to be a release date announcement, so stay updated on the latest news on the game!
