Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has finally unveiled its official gameplay, and it looks nothing short of spectacular. The new video, revealed at Gamescom Opening Night Live 2023, showed off the very first level of Modern Warfare 3, dubbed Operation 627. The action begins in the Kastovian sea, where Alpha Team assaults an enemy compound at night, marking a return to Verdansk, the setting of the original Warzone.
Using night vision goggles, the player sneaks deeper into the compound, leading to a big explosion that marks the start of combat. The Alpha Team delves ever deeper into the bowels of the Zordaya Prison Complex, culminating in a door breach that leaves the target of the operation a mystery. The gameplay also featured classic special-ops activities, stealthily sneaking around, taking down guards, and engaging in explosive firefights.
“While familiar, Verdansk will be seen from a new perspective in Modern Warfare 3’s campaign: in the year 2023, a new threat completely locked down this capital of Kastovia,” Activision said.
The gameplay reveal wrapped up with the team approaching a prison cell and rigging the door with explosives, presumably in an attempt to free the game’s main antagonist Makarov, who was revealed in a recent teaser. Modern Warfare III’s multiplayer and zombie modes were briefly mentioned, and an official showcase event was announced for November 5, giving players another look at Modern Warfare III’s gameplay, including multiplayer and zombies.
