Baldur's Gate 3 Xbox players get a lifeline for save issues 1

Baldur’s Gate 3’s journey on Xbox Series X/S continues to hit snags, as players grapple with save issues even after a recent patch aimed to iron them out. Larian Studios, the developers behind the critically acclaimed RPG, has stepped in with a stopgap solution, offering a glimmer of hope to frustrated gamers.

The snag, which rears its ugly head when exiting the game post-save, has been a thorn in the side of players over the festive season. Despite the game signaling a successful save, a firmware hiccup prevents the save file from being properly stored. Larian Studios explained the predicament in a tweet, noting Microsoft’s awareness and ongoing efforts to resolve it.

But there’s a ray of hope in this dark cloud. Larian Studios has rolled out a workaround via their cross-save system. Players are urged to link their Xbox and Larian accounts via the Larian website, ensuring the last five saves are safely uploaded to Larian’s servers. The catch? Stay in the game until the “Syncing cloud save” message vanishes. If the bug strikes, reactivating the cross-save feature should recover the uploaded saves.

Larian is not just stopping there. They promise to streamline this process and increase the number of saves uploaded in the near future. Acknowledging the frustration of lost progress, the studio reassured players of their commitment to resolving this unique issue swiftly and keeping them in the loop.

Despite its troubles on Xbox, Baldur’s Gate 3 has had a stellar year. The game, originally a hit on PC and PS5, made waves when it dropped on Xbox Series X/S. But the joy was short-lived for some, as save issues dampened the excitement.

Director of Publishing Michael Douse from Larian Studios has been vocal about the issue, emphasizing the seriousness with which they’re tackling the firmware-related problem. Unfortunately, the holiday season has slowed down progress.

The issue, initially elusive, has proven stubborn, coming to light through player feedback. The promise of quick resolution gives hope to Xbox gamers eager to delve into this deep RPG during the holiday downtime.

As Baldur’s Gate 3 continues to captivate new audiences and remains a hot pick on Steam, players are optimistic about more content and a smoother experience in the year ahead.
