Apex Legends’ reduced muzzle flash intensity is a welcome change in Season 4

Since the release of Apex Legends, Respawn has taken a slow but steady approach to game balancing, tweak, and quality-of-life improvements. Usually, the big changes are reserved for the start of each new season where a Legend joins the roster to complement a decently sized text of patch notes. However, there was one hotly contested issue that needed to be addressed as badly as buffing Mirage, muzzle flashes.
Anyone remotely knowledgeable about action cinema would know that the tip of a gun barrel roars in an intense yellow-orange fireball with every pull of the trigger. Accompanied by some beefy sounding gunshots, and you get some of the most satisfying virtual firearms to shoot. If done right, they can look chaotically beautiful and could even make a P2020 as intimidating as a cannon — give it some Hammerpoint Rounds and you will see what I mean. However, all of that flash is meaningless if you cannot see what you are shooting at. Without optics, the standard iron sights of certain weapons — I’m looking at you R99 — could blind you as badly as the sun… until the most recent patch.
Muzzle flash adjustments:
- Reduced the intensity of muzzle flash while aiming down the sight for all weapons except shotties and snipers
Only time will tell whether our accuracy will go up significantly, or find out that I am just a terrible marksman.
