Assassin’s Creed Red rumored for November 2024 release

The release date for Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed Red might have been leaked. 

According to a “trusted source” of Twitter user @BunnyTheVillain, Ubisoft has marked the release date of the upcoming Japan-set Assassin’s Creed game sometime in November 2024. The company also allegedly intends to release a World Premiere trailer in May 2024.

It’s worth noting that Ubisoft, specifically its Ubisoft Quebec branch, was rumored to be developing the game since July 2022, per Games Radar. 

Assassin’s Creed fans may remember that Ubisoft Quebec was responsible for a few Assassin’s Creed games. It previously worked on expansions for Assassin’s Creed 3 and Black Flag but eventually rose to lead the development of Assassin’s Creed Syndicate and Odyssey.

BunnyTheVillain’s information is consistent with the gaming industry’s idea that Ubisoft will launch Assassin’s Creed Red in 2024, though when exactly is still a mystery. While only time will tell if BunnyTheVillain’s words are correct, gamers are nonetheless excited about trying the game out.

Many fans have been asking Ubisoft for an Assassin’s Creed game set in Japan. They believe that having a ninja taking on the role of an Assassin is a no-brainer, considering that both heavily rely on stealth to achieve their goals. The series’ lore also mentioned that an Assassin’s Bureau exists in Japan, though events there are only told through messages.

However, Assassin’s Creed creative director Alex Hutchinson told OXM that Japan would be the worst setting for an Assassin’s Creed game as the setting’s familiarity wouldn’t make it as unique as other people believe. Hutchinson’s words rang true with games like Sucker Punch’s Ghost of Tsushima, FromSoftware’s Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, and Team Ninja’s Nioh 2. An upcoming Japan-based game, Rise of the Ronin, could also steal gamers’ attention from Assassin’s Creed Red.
