Call Of Duty League playlist coming to Season Two of Modern Warfare

Details on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s long-awaited second season have slowly been trickling out over the past week or so, and the team’ve finally reached the point where all of the details have been revealed.

Activision just released the roadmap outlining everything the team’ll be seeing this upcoming season via a post on their blog. Among other details such as new maps, guns, and cosmetics, Infinity Ward will be adding a playlist that features official Call of Duty League rules. “Fight like the pros in this Call of Duty League ruleset playlist. In this playlist, the settings and available weapons, maps, and modes have been altered, so you can battle like the best of ‘em. Get a look at the complete Call of Duty League ruleset here, then jump into the playlist.”

Modern Warfare has largely been seen as one of the more casual games in the franchise, so this could come as a delight to many fans who have been clamoring for a more competitive mode. However, it may not be exactly what some fans were hoping for. As of now, it doesn’t appear that this playlist will be a proper ranked mode, but instead just a standard playlist with an enacted Call of Duty League ruleset. This is perhaps further corroborated by a Reddit thread in which Infinity Ward Art Director, Joel Emslie, stated that he didn’t have any details on any potential ranked mode.

This, of course, might only intensify the discussion around skill-based matchmaking playing such a large role in this particular Call of Duty, with many players wondering why a game without a ranked ladder mode even has this type of system in place.

Based on this, if it has all of the CDL rules enabled, the CDL Playlist will the first public playlist in Modern Warfare with the standard mini map. https://t.co/trskxwakCC

Nonetheless, there’s a silver lining to this addition. If indeed this playlist has Call of Duty League rules installed, then theoretically it will solve another one of the community’s biggest problems with this game. This being the lack of a traditional mini-map. Players hated this change ever since beta because they felt it promoted a slower, camping style of gameplay. So this playlist will be a welcomed addition in that respect.

Season Two mobilizes for battle on February 11 for all platforms.
